This is a classic NTR manga that has been floating around the interwebs for at least a little while. For as long as I’ve known about NTR manga, which isn’t that long, really. But most fans of NTR are probably already aware of it.
For those who don’t already know it, it’s well worth getting, not just as a great NTR story, but also as a good model of what elements a story needs to be rage making NTR in general.
The story is pretty short, so there’s not a lot to describe. Sakai is a high school student who has been seeing Nagisa for some time, though we’re not told how long. Their relationship is the kind of classic innocent relationship young teenagers have before sex becomes a part of adult life. They meet after school, maybe daily, and hide together in some gym equipment room, and read magazines together and maybe kiss.
We know they don’t go as far as having sex because at the beginning of this story, Sakai gets a little too excited and starts to push to go further with Sakai. But she gets immediately uncomfortable and tells him to stop, then soon leaves.
The next day, she doesn’t show up at their usual meeting place and time, and Sakai beats himself up for having pushed too far. He gets a call from her apologizing for not being there. It all seems like the kind of misunderstanding that would be typical between a boy who is developing stronger urges and a girl who is unsure if she is ready.
Just after Sakai hangs up, he hears someone coming. Of course, it turns out to be Nagisa with someone else. That’s when Sakai finds out, the hard way, that Nagisa has different reasons for not wanting to have sex with Sakai than the innocent reasions he thought. From there, the knife gets twisted into Sakai’s heart all the more with what he sees and hears, and it’s what you’re going to want to read.
Rating: 9/10
The art is something that I’m going to stay objective about. It’s good, technically skilled art. But it’s a more realistic style than I like. I like more exaggerated art, where the women have huge tits and that kind of thing. But I know some people like the more realistic stuff, so I didn’t judge one way or the other on the art. We can all agree it’s well drawn.
The story is excellent, though. Like I said, it has elements that newcomers to NTR should look to as an example. Let’s take a look at what those elements are:
The girl is two-faced. In some NTR where the girl is raped, as a reader you can forgive her because she didn’t have a choice. But in a manga like this, it’s rage making because she is choosing to fuck the other guy. In this story her two faced nature is particularly well done, because she’s not just arbitrarily lying because she’s a mean person, she has different feelings for different guys that have consequences she struggles to cope with.
We get to see and feel for the main male character. Some semi-NTR stories will have the woman saying things while fucking a guy, like “You’re better than my husband”, but if we never see the husband, it lacks any impact. In a story like this, where we are suffering alongside the main guy, we feel every hurtful thing she says all that much more.
The main male character is basically an okay guy. If the guy who originally is with the girl is a jerk or something, then it seems like he might deserve it. A character like Sakai doesn’t deserve what’s happening to him, which makes it hurt for both him and the reader that much more. More hurt means more rage. I think that this is maybe core to good NTR: The situation has to be unfair.
The ending is bad. Another crucial part to any good NTR story. I personally like it when we see the woman hurt the guy deliberately, by telling him or showing him. But stories like this, where the ending is such that there is no confrontation, but the main male character is from now on living with the hurt of knowing in some way or another, is equally devastating.
Since this story is such a classic example, why only 9 out of 10? I think as I rate these stories, I’m finding out I’m the kind of guy who is always leaving a little room for more. There really isn’t anything wrong with this story technically, but it is a little simple. With a slightly longer story, or with more details that could make it even more hurtful.
In any case, this is NTR-101 required reading.
Extra note: There is a sequel to this, called “Friday’s Extra-Curricular Lesson“. It is not recommended, at least, not on an NTR basis. I won’t say what happens specifically, because I don’t want to ruin any imagery you might have from the first part of the story. But you should know that the focus is on the increasing depravity of the girl, and Sakai is removed from the situation in a way that will reduce the rage. Plus, this chapter of the story has some very explicit scat. Not for the squeamish.
My recommendation for the NTR fan is to read Wednesday After School and pretend there are no sequels.
